Welcome to The Club House, a two-AA Rosette-winning seafood restaurant situated in beautiful West Bexington, Dorset. Since opening in 2017 as a sister restaurant of Hive Beach Café in Burton Bradstock and The Watch House in West Bay, we’ve been serving sumptuous seafood and championing local producers on the gateway to Chesil Beach.
Head chef Will Hickton is passionate about using the freshest local produce, which is evident when glancing through his ever-changing seasonal menus. Throughout breakfast, lunch and dinner service, seafood is always the star of the show – ably supported by an equally vibrant range of meat, vegetarian and sweet dishes. Add our regular themed evenings and incredibly popular Sunday roasts to the mix, and you have the makings of a truly delightful Dorset dining experience.
The front of house operation is headed by our manager, Ferenc ‘Fefe’ Kovacs. You would have to go a very long way to find anyone more passionate about drinks than Fefe – something which is recognised by his status as a level three sommelier. Our carefully-curated wine list and creative cocktail collection feature bottles and flavours which are unique to the South West – something which saw the restaurant reach the final of the ‘Best Bar List’ category at the 2024 Trencherman’s Awards.
Built in 1932, this historic building itself will delight and impress with its simplistic tastes – combining comfortable elegance with an art deco, nautical feel. Watch the sunset while sipping a cocktail in the sunroom, take a seat in the pavilion for dinner and look over beautiful Chesil Beach, or find a lawn chair to enjoy a glass of wine on a long summer evening.
Outside the main restaurant lies the garden pavilion, an extension of the Club House. It is designed for dining and celebrations, while providing one of the best views on the site. The walls roll away in the summer to let the fresh sea breeze in, before being rolled down during the cooler seasons to create a cosy coastal escape.
Wander down the path from the pavilion to enjoy the Club garden – dotted with Jurassic plants and succulents throughout the entire year. During the summer the lawn comes to life, with large tables and lawn chairs for guests to relax and enjoy a glass of wine and alfresco dining in the sunshine.
Away from the restaurant on the edge of the garden are the beach houses – bespoke, private dining rooms with warm wood interiors. They provide a more personal and intimate dining location for those extra special experiences. As well as being decorated with natural textures and rustic coastal pieces, the beach houses also have their very own vintage telephones with direct lines to the front of house for those cocktail refills!
The relationships we've made with local suppliers are extremely important to us. They add that something special to our menu – the fact that the produce has been supplied by someone local, be that a farmer or a fisherman, enables us to maintain the high levels of quality we expect to deliver to our customers, while keeping our carbon footprint to a minimum.
